If you like to fish and haven’t heard of the Rapala Crush City Freeloader, you’re likely living under a rock. This is one of the newest baits from Rapala, and its quickly taken the bass fishing world by storm. With forward facing sonar quickly growing in popularity, many anglers have discovered that the Freeloader is perfect for this style of fishing. However this bait isn’t just popular amongst electronics fisherman, the Crush City Freeloader is perfect for a wide range of bass fishing application thanks to a wealth of fish catching features.

FREELOADER BUILD

The Rapala Crush City Freeloader, developed by Major League Fishing pro Jacob Wheeler, is a versatile shad-style bait designed for all anglers. Its tall, flat sides and unique ribbed pin tail create a subtle, enticing quivering action ideal for spinnerbaits, vibrating jigs, or scrounger heads. This bait is also extremely effective with a small jighead and forward-facing sonar. The Crush City Freeloader features Smart Injection Technology that ensures optimal color, flake, salt, and scent distribution in every bait. With a wide array of professional-level colors chosen by Jacob Wheeler himself, this bait is engineered for maximum effectiveness and endless rigging possibilities.

MY FAVORITE FEATURES

Ive used the Crush City Freeloader since its release earlier this year. Throughout my time testing this bait I’ve found a wide variety of features I really enjoy. I’m a self proclaimed tackle snob, because of this I only use baits I truly believe in and trust. The Crush City Freeloader checks all the boxes for me when it comes to a subtle shad imitation bait. One of my favorite features on the Crush City Freeloader is its flat, tall sides.

These flat sides allow the bait to roll as it moves through the water column. This is true whether you’re fishing the bait fast or slow, and its perfect for imitating a wounded baitfish moving through the water column. This flashing action is perfect for calling in bass from increased distances, and I truly believe it increases the bait drawing power. Not only does this bait have a great action, but its versatility allows you to rig it in a number of different ways.

FREELOADER APPLICATIONS

I’ve used the Rapala Crush City Freeloader in a number of different way, however my all time favorite is on a jig head. Throwing this bait on a light tungsten jig head just flat out gets bit. This presentation is perfect for targeting suspended fish, schools, brush and numerous other types of cover. This is an extremely popular presentation throughout the United States, and the Freeloader has quickly become a staple minnow style bait for the vast majority of bass anglers. While this bait performs flawlessly on a jig head, its also a fantastic spinnerbait and vibrating jig trailer.

I use a variety of different trailers based on my desired depth and action. The Crush City Freeloader performs flawlessly when fishing deeper in the water column with a subtle action. Traditional boot tail swimbaits cause the bait to rise in the water column, while the tapered tail of the Crush City Freeloader allows the bait to stay down. The Freeloader also adds a light wobble to both a spinnerbait and a vibrating jig. This is a great way to add some extra action to your favorite skirted moving bait.

The Rapala Crush City Freeloader is an all around fish catching machine, and it’s something every angler should have in their tackle box. Whether you’re a die hard electronics fisherman or a traditional bank fisherman, the Freeloader’s versatility and fish catching action is sure to put fish in the boat. If your looking for a one of a kind minnow with an unmatched action, I highly recommend checking out the Rapala Crush City Freeloader.
