The original Preacher Jig which is nothing more than a magnum hair jig with feathers sewn into it as well to give a big shad profile made a strong comeback in recent years and produces big bass catches in waters with a shad forage base, especially places like the Tennessee River where schools of bass group up offshore and get competitive feeding on shad. Not only is the hair jig a great option for fishing for bass deep that are schooled up on offshore spots, but it can be a real winner when those same schools of fish get very pressured by many other more aggressive lures and anglers after several weeks.
Jason Sealock walks through a little history of the preacher jig and delves into how to fish big-profiled hair jigs offshore for big bass.
