Teofilo and Di Cienzo Clinch 2024 1000 Island Cup Championship

Shimano proudly honors anglers Joey Di Cienzo and Joey Teofilo for their remarkable victory at the 2024 CSFL 1000 Island Cup Championship on the St. Lawrence River in Gananoque, Ontario. After two days of fierce competition against a skilled lineup, the duo clinched first place by landing an impressive 61.88 pounds of smallmouth bass.

On the first day, the Shimano team steadily built their momentum, finishing with a strong limit of 29.86 pounds. They targeted shallow waters using various hand-tied marabou jigs, and their strategy paid off on day two, resulting in a record-breaking catch of 32.02 pounds.

“Team Shimano is thrilled with this win,” said Bob Mahoney, Freshwater Marketing Manager for Shimano North America Fishing. “The combination of top-tier finesse tackle and our anglers’ sharp decision-making led to this exceptional achievement.”

Throughout the tournament, Di Cienzo and Teofilo relied on G. Loomis NRX + spinning rods, complemented by Shimano Exsence A, Twinpower FE, and Stella FK reels. Their setup featured 5-8lb Power Pro mainline paired with Shimano Mastiff FC fluorocarbon leaders.
