Northland Tackle has just released a revolutionary new hair jig called the Minnesota Mullet. While most hair jigs intended for largemouth bass are too stiff, Northland took the opposite approach, creating a jig that has all the best attributes of a tiny marabou jig and combined it with a classic bucktail hair jig design.
The big hair used in creating this jig features a synthetic fiber material that creates a breathing, lifelike appearance in the water while also providing flotation to the jig. This will allow you to hover the bait over flats, weed beds, and suspended fish while providing a one of a kind action.
This is a lofty jig that moves tons of water, and we’re excited to see how it performs on both northern and southern smallmouth. I’m also excited to test this bait out by targeting suspended spotted bass on some of our local river systems. This bait perfectly mimics shad, perch and other types of baitfish, making it a solid choice whenever bass are keyed in on this type of forage.
This jig is currently available in 1/2 and 3/4-ounce sizes with other weights to follow soon. It also comes in four lifelike colors patterns that include Perch, Crappie, White, and Green Bluegill, with a bunch of additional colors coming soon.
