The Palm Beach Post is reporting that a suspect has been arrested in the case of the murder of beloved Okeechobee angler and Belle Grade grocery store owner. Jimmy McMillan, winner of the 2009 FLW Series bass fishing tournament on Lake Okeechobee was murdered last Monday at his grocery store in Belle Grade, Fla. The surveillance camera caught the suspect on film and the shots were circulated in the community by friends and law enforcement.
This won’t bring back a beloved part of our fishing family. Everyone that knew Jimmy liked him. His son Brandon is an up and coming angler, winning the FLW Tour Open on Okeechobee in February 2011. Our hope is that this will give his three sons, wife and friends that loved him a little closure and peace in this time of sorrow.
