The second week of March brought Inks Lake their first Legacy Class Largemouth Bass while O.H. Ivie reeled in their sixth for the season.
On Sunday, March 10, Darrly Hanson II, from Round Rock, reeled in a 13.40-pound ShareLunker 662 making Inks Lake the 78th public water body to produce a Legacy Lunker. He was competing in the Tonkawa Bassmasters Club tournament. Hanson’s ShareLunker 662 was a momentous catch because it’s the new Inks Lake record for largemouth bass. With the previous record coming in at 12.50 pounds.
Larry Walker of Irving caught a 13.83-pound ShareLunker 663 on Monday March 11 at O.H. Ivie making this the 13th entry overall of the 2024 Toyota ShareLunker collection season. For Walker, this catch makes 185 fish over ten pounds and the second largest bass he has ever caught.
From Jan. 1-March 31, anglers who land a 13-plus-pound bass can loan it to TPWD for the ShareLunker selective breeding and stocking program. Call the ShareLunker hotline at (903) 681-0550 to report their catch 24/7 through March 31.
