I’ve been a bass fisherman for as long as I can remember. While my fishing style has changed over the last several years, there’s a few things that have stayed the same. One of these constants is having old, rusty scissors. I’m always upgrading my rods, reels and other pieces of equipment, however my scissors have long been neglected. I decided to do some much needed upgrades to my fishing accessories, and my braid scissors were the first to go.

I recently bought a pair of Gamakatsu Ceramic Line Cutters to replace my neglected scissors, and I’ve been nothing but impressed so far. These cutters were released at this years ICAST show, and they’re packed with everything you’d come to expect out of high quality scissors. This review highlights everything I enjoyed about the new Gamakatsu Ceramic Line Cutters.

LINE CUTTERS BUILD

The Gamakatsu Ceramic Line Cutters feature serrated ceramic blades that easily handle braided line, monofilament and fluorocarbon, making for swift and efficient cutting. The ceramic blades stay sharper longer than steel and resist rust, ensuring reliable performance over time. The handle is made out of a dense plastic material that seems to be both lightweight and durable. This compact pair of scissors is a must-have for any angler, particularly for those fishing in saltwater or other harsh conditions.

MY FAVORITE FEATURES

CLEAN CUTTING

Ive been a long time user of fishing scissors, and I truly didn’t expect to appreciate a new pair of high end scissors. The Gamakatsu Braided Line Cutters have numerous features I’ve become fond of, however my favorite is the ceramic serrated blades, that cut any style of fishing line like butter. My old scissors would only fray braided line; these cut clear though without any added tension or pressure.

RUST RESISTANT

Another one of my favorite features included in the Gamakatsu Braided Line Cutters is its inherent rust resistance. I keep my pliers outside on the deck of my boat almost year round. This exposes my equipment to the elements virtually 24/7, so corrosion resistance is important to me. I’ve had these scissors on the deck of my boat for over a month now, and I’ve yet to notice any signs of rust or damage.

COMPACT DESIGN

Last but certainly not least, I really appreciate the compact design. These scissors are small, only measuring 4.75 inches in length. This is perfect for storing in a backpack, tackle box or wherever else you might keep your cutters. I do lots of hopping between boats whether it’s my own, my friends or someone else’s. The small size is perfect for throwing them in my pocket and hitting the water.

A good pair of scissors is something every angler should have in their arsenal, and they are relatively cost effective. This specific pair retails for only $16.99, making them a great choice for all anglers. Not only are these affordable, but they come with everything you expect out of a high quality pair of scissors. If your looking for your next pair of cutters, I highly recommend checking out the Gamakatsu Ceramic Line Cutters.
