Zoom Bait Company, the leading innovator in bass fishing soft plastics, has responded to angler demand by introducing new sizes in two industry leading baits: a 6-inch Super Fluke and a 6.5-inch Winged Fluke.
“It’s all about imitating bigger forage,” said five-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier Brandon Cobb. “The new Super Fluke is bigger than the 5-inch model, so it casts a bit further. It’s more forgiving with a big hook, yet it often has a better hookup percentage than the Magnum Fluke.” He especially likes the big fluke on herring lakes, like those in his native South Carolina.
He utilized the Winged Fluke primarily with forward-facing sonar, but noted that as fish have become conditioned to the ping of the electronics, they’ve become more wary. “That’s why it’s so important to have your key baits in all different sizes,” said the two-time Elite Series champion. This bigger model will therefore complement the previous 4- and 5-inch Winged Flukes. He’ll carry them all and change them out as needed.
The new size of the Super Fluke will initially come in seven pro-approved colors to match your local forage and water conditions. The new size of the Winged Fluke will initially come in eight colors. One of Cobb’s favorites is Champagne Pepper Pearl. He said, “it imitates a perch when you go up north for smallmouths, and it has that pearl belly when you’re trying to imitate shad or bluegill.”
