Alabama angler Jonathan Newton shares some tips for fishing current breaks off of bluffs on rivers and lakes with heavy current. While a shaky head might not seem like the first choice to fish in current, Newton has found this combination to be deadly on current breaks and smallmouth using them to feed on water swept forage. He uses a Zoom Trick Worm on a ball head jighead and light spinning line to thread the bait down the current break bouncing and helping it over the rocks as it tumbles in the water.
This big smallmouth is proof of his simple but effective system.
