Lund Releases New Bass Boat

Wired2Fish conducted a thorough walk-through on the new 2016 Lund 1875 Pro V-Bass XS, which is the sister boat to the new 1875 Pro-V Bass. Both models are designed as versatile multi-species boats with the Pro-V Bass offering bench seating and the XS model offering pedestal seating. Both are built off of the 1875 Pro-V hull which is an IPS 2 hull design featuring a pronounced center keel, flat pad, strakes and 2 reverse chines that when taken together, provide fast hole shots and an incredibly stable, smooth dry ride. Lund hulls are known for their tough double-riveted seam construction, which is backed by an industry-leading lifetime warranty. This is a proven high-performance and versatile hull that’s at home on both big and small water.

During our test drive, we were able to execute tight turns at relatively high speeds without decreasing the throttle or trimming down the outboard. We felt very safe and were totally snug in the seat at all times. It may look a little different than what some anglers accustomed to, but it certainly has the DNA of a bass boat. In fact, it rides much smoother than some fiberglass boats we’ve operated over the years.

A total length of 18 feet, 9 inches
Rated for a maximum 200 HP. We hit a top end of 62mph with the Optimax and 59mph with the Verado. This was with one person in the boat, no gear, a 24-volt battery configuration, half-tank of fuel and at full trim with a 3-blade Mercury Tempest Plus Prop.
It has a wide 96 1/2-inch beam that, when coupled with the IPS 2 hull, is extremely stable

The bow deck is expansive and features Lund’s new patent pending Advanced Water Control System, or AWC. This wood-free deck is raised around storage compartments and directs the flow of water to keep compartments drier.

Many of the storage compartments are lined with the same sport track rails that line the gunnel and allow for customized mounting of fishing accessories.
The edge of the rod locker also holds 4 Plano 3700 series tackle trays

As mentioned, the Pro-V Bass XS has pedestal seating, which offers more adjustability than bench seating, but boils down to preference.
The back deck on the XS model is smaller than the Pro-V Bass, but it has 2 additional built-in flip up seats with storage underneath. Although both models have a 4-person capacity, the two jump seats are a big plus if you need a boat that serves practical double duty as a fishing machine and family boat.
Both models have a 36-inch, 28-gallon aft livewell and a built-in pump-out system to help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species
Like the bow, there’s lots of aft storage across several compartments
And ski pylon mount with additional butt seat mounting locations.
In the unlikely event you find yourself in the water, there’s a 3-step ladder that conveniently tucks back into the boat.
