After 33 years of dominating the world of professional bass fishing, Kevin VanDam has announced that the 2023 season will be the last of his career.
With more than $7 million in career earnings between the Bassmaster Elite Series and Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour, 26 career wins, including 190 top-20 finishes, 123 top-10 finishes, 28 Bassmaster Classic appearances, 4 Bassmaster Classic wins, 7 Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles and 2 REDCREST appearances on his resumé, he is one of the greatest to ever compete in professional fishing.
In the video below, VanDam explains his decision and cites the time on the road away from his wife and two sons as a major reason behind his decision. He also made it clear that he is not retiring, as he plans to be a major voice in fishing and conservation long into the future.
