Just wanted to take a minute to say i absolutely love your website. It has become a daily read for me, as well as on Face Book. What really impressed me was I wrote in for a comment to a contest last month, allthough new to the website, I recieved an email back from you a day later thanking me, then several days later came a package in the mail with another thank you, as well as a gift and W2F sticker that now is on my Jeep Gr.Cherokee for all to see. You guys are the best. But even more than that, I posted a few comments on Face Book, and your Terry Brown the very next day sent me a friend request on the FB site. THAT'S A GOOD COMPANY! A company that will take the time to not only give us a great website, but actually go that far to treat me like somebody. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Bruce Bachlor from Cincinnati, OH writes:
I want to share a brief story with you, and offer my thanks. A little over a week ago, I took my Father-in-Law (who also happens to be my fishing buddy) to a movie while my wife and some of her sisters took their Mom out for her birthday. When we returned to my In-Laws house, he found a Bass Pro ad for their big Fishing Event in his mailbox. We both had been planning on going to Bass Pro, and made plans to go and stock up on all of the necessities we could. We had a few beers and discussed our upcoming annual 4-day walleye trip to Lake Erie, and talked about previous trips, and wanting to spend more time fishing with each other this year- about as good a time you can have without actually involving the act of fishing. When I got home and checked my mail, I found 3 different lure catalogs, my most recent issue of In-Fisherman magazine, and a package from W2F containing a thank you note and some Suffix line. The perfect ending to the day. How can you top something like that? I know that Terry, Todd and Jason get a lot of thank you's, but I would also like to take the time to thank all of those people at W2F who help make their work possible, and a little easier. So here’s an extra thank you to Aaron and Pete, and a special thanks to Sheri, who filled in while Todd was out of town & sent me a thank you letter with some Sufix line. Thanks also to all those other people at W2F we never see or hear about who make it possible to enjoy this great site!

In response to "It's All Good According to Scroggins" I really enjoy reading articles like these on your site. It's cool to get an inside glimpse at the life of professional angler. We weekend warriors often envy their profession, mostly ignorant to the fact that it is a life riddled with hardship and unique challenges. The miles they drive, the hours put in on the road doing tournaments, demos, and appearances. Being away from their family and friends. The uncertain conditions they may face on a lake largely unfamiliar to them. Something simple like an electrical or motor problem, while an inconvenience for the weekend warrior can potentially cost these guys thousands of dollars, and ultimately their shot at the title. When they’re not on the road, they’re still hard at work preparing for the next season, getting sponsors lined up, etc. This business of professional bass fishing isn’t for the faint of heart, so I believe these guys deserve every penny they earn. It’s really great to see someone like Scroggins take it all in stride and be thankful for the life that chose him instead of getting mired down in all the ‘tough stuff’ that got him to where he is.

Andrew Stephenson from Carlock, IL writes:
I just watched Terry's video on line selection and I agree 100%. There's no answer to "what is the best line?"... it's only "what is the best line for ME?". However, in my case, this has led to a bit of a problem. The best line I've ever found for me is Ironsilk. I can't find Ironsilk anymore! I love the ease of tying and the strength to diameter ratio! It was also super tough for fishing around rocks and through the weeds! Does anyone else make line similar to Ironsilk or do I need to start trying lines all over again? I have used braids before and it wasn't for me. I like a little more stiffness than you get from braid.

I've appreciated the coverage W2F has given to the future anglers, and especially the College and High School programs. They will someday be responsible for carrying on the passion and traditions we uphold today. I was pleased to see Terry on Babe Winkelman's show addressing the importance of getting the next generation involved. I knew from some of your articles that he had been involved in the Illinois High School program, but didn't realize how much he had really put into it. my hat is off to him and all of those who help to ensure that the sport, and all of the enjoyment and benefits we get from it, will continue for years to come. Thanks, Terry- keep doing what you're doing, because you do make a difference.

It is awesome to read the news that Ted Takasaki will be inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. It is inspiring to see someone that grew up so close to where I did and fished the same waters I fish reach such a high point in their career. In addition to his many successes during his career, he has maintained a very down-to-earth personality. He is very gracious to his fans, and seems genuinely excited to share his knowledge and insight into the sport. Being a walleye enthusiast myself, meeting him is an experience I'll never forget!

I recently attended "The Bass University" and had the pleasure of meeting Terry Brown (W2F) Who is one of the nicest guys i have ever met! Terry was the emcee of the event in Nashville which i must say was the most informative and entertaining fishing seminar i have attended, with instructors like: Ioconelli,Wolack,Gluszek,Crews,Howell and "The Gman" Swindle himself i was on information overload(thank goodness for the digital recorder and notepad) and not with stuff these guys talk about at boat shows,etc.. but they really went in-depth about every aspect of fishing. I won the contest for dinner with the pro's and i sat with these guys for a few hours with them talking with me like i had known them for 20 years (Truly down to earth and class act guys- which you dont find to often in sports!). So if you are trying to decide if you want to attend the University let me tell you it is well worth the time and money to experience it. Thanks Terry it was great to meet you and Jason, Hope to hear from you soon, Rob Melendez

I am glad to see a number of new companies flocking to join the Wired2fish crew, and I think that exposure through your site will increase their sales. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I actually do look to your site in order to try and figure out what products I should buy. I don’t have a lot of disposable income, but I probably average $20- $30 a month buying tackle. I believe in Wired2fish, and trust that they aren’t going to recommend junk. I have noticed that a lot of your new partners aren’t specifically bass-oriented, and I like that. I am a multi-species angler (which is my way of saying that when I catch something, I was trying to catch it), and look forward to a wider variety of information. I’ve been a big fan of Northland for several years, and I’m glad to see them on board with W2F. I already know they make quality products, and this only reinforces my belief that W2F promotes quality companies and quality products. I’m also glad to see your coverage extending to other fish species, as well. I’ve watched ‘The Next Bite’ for several years, and welcome the opportunity to gain more information from a wider base of knowledge on a wider variety of species. My only concern is that you might lose some of the die-hard bass anglers. Although the majority of people I know and fish with are multi-species anglers, I do know some who are very insistent that the only true angler is a bass angler. I hope that any loss of visits to your site caused by this attitude will be made up by those who truly want to expand their repertoire. As always, I want to thank you guys for doing a great job, and I’m looking forward to enjoying your site for a long time to come. Keep up the good work!

I was glad to see that Hummingbird received a patent for their side-imaging technology. it is truly unique on the market, and was a brilliant move on their part. I'm also glad that they are now a sponsor for Hook n' Look- another wise move. Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past few years, you know about Hummingbird's side-imaging technology, but Kim Stricker is actually able to show some of the neat aspects of the technology, and some great ways of using it that we don't always see on a 30 second commercial. Hummingbird is definitely the current forerunner in sonar technology, and it's going to be tough to come up with something that will top their invention.

I've recently won the Kicker Fish High Tail Lizard contest.  I fished the green pumpkin red rigged texas style on my home lake, Big Hill Reservoir and was pleased with the results.  Following post front conditions and 48 deg. water I managed 5 bites and 3 in the boat.  Although they weren't much in size I think this bait will have better results in the spring and I am looking forward to trying them then.  The plastic used in the High Tail Lizard is firm and so I was able to use one bait for all my fishing that day which is a plus to me as it will be to other fisherman as well.  I would like to see a craw type bait with the same features as the worm and lizard as I think this would be a hit with the jig fisherman.  I thank Wired2fish for another great contest and all the reviews and inside the industry news that you guys put out there.  This is one of the best sites on the web! Keep it up! Richard Fitzwater

Just wanted to drop you a line about the Brother's Limberneck spinnerbaits.. I still have and use them and love them, especially for fall fishing. I like a single gold #6 Indiana blade on the 1/2 oz model. I also discovered another "different" spinnerbait at the Pickwick BBC Rally this year. It's called a "Chain Reaction" spinnerbait and uses a small beaded chain between the leading and trailing blade. Check them out... they are pretty cool...

A friend recently took me to a local preserve which has several small 'lakes' (more like oversized ponds) stocked with bass, pike, perch, crappie & bluegill. I had not yet had an opportunity to use the Berkley Powerbait Heavyweight worms you had sent me, and I broke them out. I wacky- rigged one, and had my first bass within 5 minutes. I was so impressed with the results from that bait, that I went out and bought more. They have continued to catch bass every time I've used them. Thanks to you and Berkley for the freebie, and for a quality product.

I'm really looking forward to see what kind of changes will be going on with the w2f site. I was at Bass Pro a few weeks ago, and had to take an extra walk around, looking for any of the w2f approved labels. I didn't see any, but I'm going to keep looking at any store I'm at- It's tough for me to remember all the products you have tested for us, and I can't wait to see them in stores. I was a little curious what would be in store during the slow season, now that most of the tournaments were winding down, and I'm glad to see that you are still providing first class information. I'm a member of BASS, but I would rather go to W2F than Bassmaster.com, because your information is more relevant, and also easier to access and interact with. Thanks, once again for doing a great job at keeping me informed and entertained. (I still think Terry needs a raise....)

Terry, excellent article “Are You Sick” we do have too much negativity right now and not enough positive. Thanks for the fresh perspective. More should take note!!

Bruce Bachlor from Cincinnati, OH writes:
I know I've already given my 2 cents in regards to Terry's recent comments on the negativity in the media, but I just wanted to spew out a few more comments. Terry, you are absolutely correct when you say times are tough. That is the reason why we should be more positive. Fishing is one of the most positive factors in my life, and I rely on the enjoyment and peace of mind that I derive from it to help make it through these times. I was hospitalized recently for several days, and the running joke was that I needed my new rod & reel at the hospital so I wouldn't have to bother the nurses- I could just cast and reel to get everything I needed. Fishing is all about enjoyment- those people that fish for a living do it because they enjoy it, and those of us who don't fish for a living wish that we could. I find myself turning to fishing, and trying to support anything related to fishing, more in these trying times because I need it, and because everyone else needs more support, as well. There is an old saying that we have all heard before-'A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work'. I don't believe this is true. I don't believe there is such a thing as a bad day fishing. I know that BASS, and FLW are businesses, and I also am aware that the many sponsors and manufacturers of fishing gear are trying to make a profit, also. I am probably a little naive, but I like to think that all of these organizations and businesses are linked by a common thread- the love of fishing, both as a sport and as a pasttime. People can preach about doomsday and the downside of the professional circuit and sponsorships, but I will continue to do what little I can to help, and I will continue to find the positive side, just as you do, Terry. Thanks for being a voice of reason and faith in a sea of discontent.

Jake deBin from Auburn, Alabama writes:
Thanks for all you do, guys! I loved Terry's "Sick" article and wish that we all saw that the fishing glass is still half full. Wired2Fish is a wonderful service and a testimony to the moral and physical strength of the sport.

Bruce Bachlor from Cincinnati, OH writes:
As I am sure I have told the people who keep Wired2fish going, I truly enjoy your website, and it has actually helped to rekindle my passion for fishing. I wanted to take a moment to compliment Terry on his recent comments about the media, and his policy of positive reporting. I am pleased, and definitely not surprised that this organization wants to portray the positive side of the industy, while maintaining a personal and friendly relationship with all who are involved in it. I know from experience that this is true for both your visitors, and your business contacts, and can tell you how rare and truly wonderful this is to find. Someone needs to give Terry a raise, or at least a few days vacation- it seems like he's always working. let him take a week to do some traveling, and maybe hang out and do some fishing, or learn a few pointers... Wait a minute- maybe I need his job? I'm willing to trade! Thanks once again for the positive outlook, and a great website. (Really- give the man a raise!)

I re-wired the whole thing, the dash the lights, everything that could be wired and I'm currently extending the casting deck from 3ft long to 7 1/2ft long. Caught your Dippity Doo article and thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I have to agree that the Skinny Dipper was a well kept secret all last year. Several of the boaters I fished with in draw tournaments threw them, one of which threw a "White Trash" Skinny Dipper exclusively all day. This is now my preferred soft swim bait in water with some color. You can get pretty creative with some Skinny Dippers and a pack of Spike-It markers. Take some Watermelonseed Skinny Dippers put some orange on the cheeks, blue across the back and blue stripes on the sides with a little chartreuse in the tail, and in less than a minute, you've got a pretty good bluegill imitation. I've also used the blue back and a chartreuse stripe on the side on the White Trash color to make a "Sexy-Shad" Skinny Dipper. As always, a great site with the lead on all the current info and trends. Eric

I like the layout of the Classic on W2F. My Classic picks in no particular order:
KVD - How do you not pick KVD in any derby let alone the Classic.
Greg Hackney - Cut his teeth in AR, lives in LA, strong on a river system.
Scott Rook - Strong on the AR River, gut feel is that the Red River fishes a lot like the AR.
Billy McGaghren won the Open last year on the Red, he and Rook have fished a lot of the same water. Billy is a real nice guy, I met him a couple of years ago at a boat show, I am rooting for him on the Elite Series this year.
Bill Lowen - Ohio River guy, should do well. Seems like a top notch guy and a Classic win would really solidify his place on the tour.
Greg Pugh - Good power fisherman, he is my sleeper pick. If he was in it, I think K-Pink would have made a run for the money.

Those airboats spray the grass on Guntersville every year mainly in the creeks and coves with docks. I've even seen this floating drum chopper in the Roseberry area. They usually leave the grass on the main channel alone but this year alot of the main channel grass mats are missing. Looks like a different lake for this time of year. I don't think TVA sprayed in the favored areas. A bunch of the grass never topped out especially the milfoil in places. This is all from observation but who knows what TVA could be doing. Anyway, the lake is fishing a little different for this time year. The jig bite was short lived. You can still catch them on any of the patterns that work this time of year in addition to spring type patterns. The topwater has been phenomenal, big worms, spinnerbaits, lipless baits, jigs, crankbaits, and more are working. Finding a big bite maybe the only problem.

Hey Damon,,where you been buddy? Long time no see. Just read a nice response from Brett Mitchell on "Growing the Sport". Very good comments from someone that does have some insight and I appreciate his input. However, I'm not so sure it's so much about "growing" the sport right now as it is about "preserving" the sport. With our current economy, which many have never experienced before, and the effect it is having on sponsors and organizations it seems to me it's more about preservation and survival than "growing". Growth and preservation are two different animals even though they go hand in hand. Called balance. And I'm not normally a "glass half empty" guy. But I do try and be a realist. Simply a little more food for thought, nothing more.

I totally disagree with doing away of the co-anglers. Why do we want to make our sport just like every other professional sport. Thats whats makes ours so great and different. It gives the average joe a chance to fish with the best in business. What other sport in the world can a amatuer compete side by side with the best in the world. Thats what makes our sport awesome. Just the thought of someday being able to fish with KVD or Rick Clunn gets my blood pumping. Why take that away fom us. And the only reason is $$$$$$$. Thats ashame too. I know most of you will never fish these events, but for those of us who have I can say you don't have any idea what your missing. Been the best experiences of fishing career. I just also wish these pros would take a minute a think about why they are where they are. Its not because of some big sponsor or corporation. Its because of US AVERAGE JOE'S that buy their products and watch their shows. WE ARE THE REASON they are where their at. Now they want to get rid of us? Makes me pretty angry if you want my honest opinion.

Chuck Wood from Indy writes:
I like Pete Robbins solutions to the co-angler problem in the BASS elite series. Its time for BASS to do away with the co-anglers on the elite trail. One thing I might add is the pros could pay a observer fee to BASS for each day they compete to compensate observers for there time and that way it would be up to BASS to hire these people. Also agree no practice partners for these elite anglers !

Luke Downing from writes:
Coming from a tin boat to a Glass boat for me had a ton of great attributes...one of the major things for me was the better ride on the larger lakes that I fish in this area. The glass boats have a much better ride for me than the tin boats with the way they are designed. some of the other factors were storage space, speed, fishability, durability, contingency programs, safety and many more. For me the glass boat was just a more sensible buy for the types of fishing and boating I do. I feel much more safe in the glass boats with the way they handle and are not tipsy like some of the Tin boats are.

But on the other side the Tin boats do have some attributes over the Glass boats. One of the huge things that the Tin boats have over the Glass boats is their cost. The Tin boats are much cheaper in price than the Glass boats so someone on a budget or not looking to spend a ton of money can get out on the water easier than if they were to buy a Glass boat. But on the other side of that coin you do get what you pay for.

The debate on the Glass vs. Tin boats has been going on for years and will probably keep going on, the best thing someone can do when trying to decide which boat is for them is to take and look at what the boat will be used for, weather it's tournament fishing or just taking the family out on the water. The decision is up to the person behind the wheel.

First off, I have to give you props on your 8lb 7oz bass. That is what it is all about!

As for the 4" BBZ-1, I am working as fast as I can to have all the prototypes ready to show at ICAST 2008 ( mid July ) and ready to ship to the public in mid to late September 2008. I OK'd all the models on Friday the 9Th of this month and I have to say that I am blown away on the actions of these baits. Bottom line is that "time on the water" not only works on keeping up with your fishing skills, but working on designing lures is what the fishermen deserve now-a-days and that is what Spro and myself are all about. Just wait tell you see these bad boys swim.

I will have 3 models that will cover the entire top, middle, bottom, of the water column in a Floater, Slow Sink, and Fast Sink. There will be four colors that should cover all water clarity to start with, Natural Shad, Blue Back Herring, Sexy Lavender Shad, and the Dirty Shad. I have attached a picture of 3 of the color mock-ups without the Dirty Shad in the picture. I am still working on slight tweaking of the colors on the top fin and tail sections so these bait will even look better when they are finished.

Thanks for reading the Big Bass Zone the book and to help you understand more on directional changes, funnels, and proper techniques I put together a DVD with the help of Spro and Hollywood recently. You can take a quick look on www.spro.com. And one more thing Jeff, tell your buddy the next time a 10 pound monster is following your BBZ-1, all he has to do is a little directional change, fasten his seat-belt and hold on. Don't pull it away from a 10 pounder

Tune into Wire2Fish every few weeks for updates on the new lures that I am working on and tricks on putting more and bigger fish in the boat.

Take Care and Keep it in the BBZ

When will the 4” swimbait be available? I heard your interview on Wired2Fish and even saw a picture of the bait on Cal Fishing. I got bit by the swimbait bug this winter and caught my fish swimbait bass this spring (an 8 lb 7 oz beauty.). I have read your book and have a couple of the 8” BBZ 1 and can’t wait to get a couple of the new 4” versions. The 8” BBZ 1 is the most realistic lure I own. My buddy who was fishing with me on the trip were I caught my 8.7 pulled the BBZ 1 away from a 10lb+ bass! I just hope it is soon! I think this version will work great in my lakes here in Illinois! I look forward to hearing back from you.

In regards to your What’s Up Question about forums I frequent the Bass Fishing Home Page forum, Other Topics Board. I've been going there and participating for about 8 years now. When I first started visiting there, Tim Tucker, Angie Thompson and other industry elite were participating also. Because there was no registration and anyone could post, there were numerous occasions where some undesirable comments were made about folks and the industry elite quit posting. I do know they still monitor the boards though because I've heard it from some directly.

I think it's an important venue and a way to get fishermen's opinion's out there so things can be changed that may be detrimental to the sport.

I've been a strong advocate for women's professional bass fishing on the BFHP board. Many times I've felt like the "Lone Rangeress" out here when a host of folks of the male persuasion felt that there should not be a seperate tour for women. Some of those threads went on for days, even weeks.

The BFHP has been a source of constant entertainment. One of the funniest topics was "You might be a patch pirate if" (fill in the blanks) and one of the funniest fellas that ever graced the page is a guy named Omar.

Kim Striker, the Fishing Diva, made a post about wanting to learn to camp at tournaments to save some money and the next thing she knew she was invited on the Bassmaster show where the guys tricked out her truck and set it up for camping.

So yes I think the fishing forums are valuable contributors to our sport.

I enjoy your site. Thanks.
